Belgian football superstar to battle top Americans in Las Vegas Riviera Hotel

More than 750 of the world's very best table soccer players are set to compete at the $100,000 Tornado Table Soccer World Championships Series tournament, taking place September 20-24, 2006 at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Players will compete for titles, cash and prizes in a variety of events, including doubles, singles and mixed doubles in divisions for masters, pros, semi-pros and amateurs.

The competition will take place on Brunswick's Tornado Table Soccer tables, the brand used on the U.S. pro tour. The tournament is sanctioned by the United States Table Soccer Federation (USTSF) and the International Table Soccer Federation (ITSF). Sponsors of the event include Brunswick and the Riviera Hotel and Casino. All eyes will be on Belgian superstar Frederico Collignon, who has dominated this and other tournaments worldwide for the last several years, earning him the first ranking in the world.

The tournament is open to all competitors and includes many specialty events, such as 15 & under doubles, 40 & over doubles, 2-ball rollerball, and goalie war. Opening events begin at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20th, with most finals occurring on Sunday the 24th. Spectators are welcome and there is no admission fee to enter the tournament room. There are entry fees for players who wish to compete in an event.

This is the last major stop on the ITSF World Series tour, giving players from over 35 countries one of their final opportunities to earn points to qualify for expense paid trips to the ITSF World Series Finals in St. Vincent, Italy this November. Other World Series events took place this year in Paris, France, Vienna, Austria and Lugano, Italy with even more qualifying events in countries as diverse as Japan, Poland and Costa Rica. In fact, this year's tour will be the largest worldwide table soccer pro tour ever.
