Beautiful Grand Casino Biloxi and the Gulf Coast were hit by Hurricane Katrina and closed indefinitely due to hurricane damage. The storm destroyed the barge on which the casino floor was located. Karen Sock, the new general manager of Biloxi casino, foresees great success and a lot of hard work. Sock came to the Coast from New Orleans about two months before the hurricane to become the assistant general manager at Grand Casino Gulfport. Karen Sock has more than 20 years of experience in casino industry and her goal is to create a customer service-oriented work environment from within.
The casino will open its doors with more than 800 slot machines and just over 20 table games. Harrah's Entertainment, the owner of Biloxi Casino, decided to redesign Hotel tower and convention center into a casino and 500-room hotel. New constructions will feature a steakhouse, a 300-seat buffet, a swimming pool and a 16,000-square-foot spa. Harrah's Entertainment will generously hire five thousand former Biloxi and Gulfport employees.
The summer reopening of Biloxi Casino is scheduled on middle august 2006. However, the company said it would release more details midyear.
