Korea Cabinet decided to ease regulation on opening casinos designated to foreign customers. The number of those casinos is projected to rise.

If the National Assembly will pass the revision calls for encouraging tourism, luxury hotel across the nation would be able to operate tourists only casinos as soon as July. Until now, only a limited number of cities and provinces were allowed to operate those casinos. Today, Korea offers 14 foreigners-only casinos.

Some lawmakers who oppose the revision are worried that the rise in the number of casinos would increase the number of gamblers in the country. The local gambling industry might face a competition. The gaming company Paradise Group that runs a casino which enables Korea residents to gamble, had alread saw a drop in its stock prices.
