The Travel Channel settled on a deal with the creator of the popular World Poker Tour TV show. A lawsuit that was filed by the series creator prevented from the network to broadcast the World Poker Tour spin off series Professional Poker Tours. Now it will be broadcast from June along with the new season of the World Poker Tour.
The new agreement includes the Travel Channel obligation to broadcast 24 episodes, two hours each. The broadcasting of the two poker series will make Travel the only cable network to have original poker shows all year.
The main difference between World Poker Tour and Professional Poker Tour is that the WPT is open to any player who pays the high entry fee, while the Professional Poker Tour includes only past World Poker Tour winners.
