The Salvation Army objects a bid to allow the building Las Vegas style casino in Middlesbrough, Teesside. Capt. Colin Bradshaw of the Salvation Army claimed that a casino would have a negative affect on the community health and wellbeing.
The 180 million sterling pounds casino hotel would create 4,000 permanent jobs. Tees Valley Regeneration believes that a casino would benefit Middlesbrough economics.
UK gambling law allows biddings for 1 super casino and 16 smaller casinos. Cardiff is also amongst the cities that applied for a super casino license.
According to Capt. Bradshaw, the Salvation Army decision to object the casino building is based on their experience from working in underprivileged areas and with people who suffer from addictions. He believes a casino will have a negative affect on Middlesbrough residents.
