According to De Standaard newspaper, two soccer players and a trainer admitted of being involved in a match-fixing scandal.
Goalkeeper Cliff Mardulier, defender Laurent Fassotte and assistant goalkeeper trainer Patrick Deman of Lierse SK of the Belgian First Division club were arrested on Wednesday. They all admitted of fixing several matches in the present and former seasons to gambling organizations.
The three suspects were released on Wednesday night. No official charges have been filed yet. In the meantime, past soccer player Olivier Suray will testify in an investigating judge on Thursday about his connection to Chinese businessperson Ye Zheyun, who was arrested of his involvement in the soccer match-fixing scandal.
